Thailand Takes Two Medals as Football Team Exits Asian Games

Thailand collected one silver and one bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on September 26, while its men’s football team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by China.

Weightlifter Weeraphon Wichuma won silver in the men’s 75kg category with a combined lift of 365kg, finishing just 1kg behind Indonesia’s Erwin Rahmat Abdullah. North Korea’s Ri Chong Song took bronze.

Thailand’s bronze came in esports, where Thanarak Wongkitikun finished third in Puyo Puyo Champions after reaching the semi-finals.

In football, China defeated Thailand 3-0, scoring through Hu Hetao and Zhang Yuning after an own goal gave China the lead just before half-time.

The defeat ended Thailand’s football campaign at the quarter-final stage.
